Cut the skin it bleeds
On the floor it burns through all
In its way, toxic.
Romatae Agusta is the one who started it all. He tinkered in his lab and found a way to store the human brain on a microchip. He came to me in my broken home. My father beating my mother. My brother crying. He took us away and told us he would keep us safe. We believed that fucker.
I remember sitting in a white room. White walls, white bed, white sheets, white everything. The plainness was overwhelming. Jake! Where is Jake? I kept on thinking. The thought of not knowing his location for one instance of my life makes my stomach churn. My insides burn thinking about it. My brother must always be in my sight. Agusta took that away from me. He took Jake away from me.
It goes blank from there.
My memory, black.
In an arena I stand. My opponent staring me down. Blue eyes hypnotizing on dark skin. I spread my arms out, raising them into the air. My breathing is heavy and blood streams down my skin. I had been attacked by a pair of dual whips, those wielded by the android across from me. I still have human functions and blood. While my brain is now a microchip, my body still has part of its original human form. My classification is cyborg.
Claws spring from my fingers, my hands and arms above my head. The whips lash towards me again, approximately one hundred and forty kilometers an hour. If I was still human I would be in pieces from previous hits. My legs fly off the ground and I flip through the air. I fall towards the ground I aim for the back of the android’s head. Microchips are the source of our lives. For if a microchip is destroyed the machine can no longer function. Mechanics normally hide the chips in various parts of their creation’s body due to this.
The android locks onto my location and changes the direction the whips fire, now one hundred and sixty kilometers per hour, frustration seems to be taking over. I smirk and make my hit, then dodge. It finds me again, speed ten point five kilometers per hour slower, the damage did something. However, no microchip. It must be somewhere else on the android. I land on the opposite side of the arena from it.
Its pupils dilate and spin as it stares. No doubt casting formulas through its processors. I am the first human-to-puppet that was created. They call us puppets because we are subject to our mechanic’s wishes. My mechanic, the leader of the mechanics, Romatae Agusta, is watching me from a stand outside the arena. Should I win he will profit. His job is to force me to fight and test new technologies on my body. My job is to survive, as every fight is a fight to the death.
Survive. The word echoed through the space in my head that used to contain my brain, the space that now contains one single chip surrounded by an abundance of steel and wiring.
One strike, they fall down.
One bite, they’ve had enough now.
One strike, one bite, down.
It moves. Target locked. Cyborg. Speed: seventy kilometers per hour. Slower than the average android by fifty kilometers per hour. Human quantity weakens technology. Fire whips in its direction. The android falls as the female cyborg stands over it and grins. She laughs manically at the damage she had done. Her claws retract into her hands. Romatae Agusta smiles down at his pet from the stands. It had one again. It is the first creation of its kind and while it is commonly looked down upon for having the human components of a seven year old girl, it never fails. Romatae picked his test subjects well.
Celia is her name. Celia the Cyborg. The one Celia had defeated is known as Allison. Normally they go by the name of the human from which they were made. Allison is a new model. She is supposed to be the most durable one on the market. Celia had no problem breaking her. Romatae pats the mechanic beside him on the back. “Well done.” He mutters and giggles. “Allison certainly is the most durable I’ve seen! Far above any Cyborg!” Romatae bursts into a louder laugh and then struts away to meet his toy at the exit from the arena. Celia tosses the wires and scrap metal from her arms and hands. She had a bit too much fun tearing the android apart.
“Celia!” Romatae happily calls to her. She nods and walks out of the exit to follow him back to the laboratory. “Who is the best mechanic? Is it me? Or is it me?” Romatae’s ego constantly feeds off of Celia’s success.
Celia hates Romatae Agusta. She wants to tear him to shreds, just like she did with Allison. He has still hidden the location of her brother from her. Jake. Celia searched for him all over the prison that was called a lab. Romatae had somehow managed to keep him from her sights, though she knows he has Jake. The mechanic walks only slightly ahead of Celia. His short, stout, body bouncing as he skips along the sidewalk. She could do it now. She could stab him through in this second. Her right hand clenches into a fist as she does her best to keep her claws from extending. Romatae stops and pulls a Taser gun from his pocket. He hops around and fires it at the cyborg. Celia jolts backwards after the hit. “I know you want to kill me.” His eyed narrow. “But you forget something. I made you. I know you. And I can destroy you.”
Read and know, learn now
The secrets of my tome, come
Study me, student.
I cringe at the sight. The disgusting, forced battle between two forces that didn’t want to do it is over. Romatae Agusta, what are your secrets? He stated that he only copies the minds of the humans onto a microchip and that the rest of the body is artificial or taken from organ donors. He claims he is not a murderer. However then why do his creations have such a human aspect to them? They have expressive faces, voices and appear to have emotions.
He has been suspected of experimenting on humans before, however, his influence over the mechanics is so much so that they protect him and keep secrets for him. There is no way to get past the iron defense he has built up by using means of the law. Even though he talks down to everyone in his division they still sense his air of authority.
My hand reaches into my pocked and pulls out a blue notebook. The pages are bursting with every little fact I can find on Agusta. In there I write some details about his favorite creation I had not noticed before: The body parts on her look so young. Like that of a child. This is the first time I had attended a brawl and seen the cyborg for myself. I feel sick to my stomach. A little girl had been taken in order for that creature to be made. After I write down proof of the cyborg’s insanity I close the book and slip it back into my pocket.
“Hey, Sarah.” I hear a voice over my shoulder. Rebecca has a blank expression. “We should go now. This place makes me uncomfortable.” Rebecca is an android who escaped from her mechanic. I found her while walking home late at night. She was hiding in an ally. She needed some repairs badly and I was happy to help as she could also give me some information. I nod to her and we head back to my apartment.
Part of the reason I am trying to study Agusta is because of her. Because despite being an android she seems so human. She has emotions and expressions, though much less so than a cyborg or a human, but they are there. What caught me off guard is the fact that she doesn’t notice when she makes the expressions. Much like a human they are done unconsciously. Surely if she had no feelings that would not be possible. Feelings, or emotions are stimulated by hormones. Therefore there must be some organic matter to her make-up. If that is the case then who was killed to give that necessary organic matter?
There is a knock at my door as soon as we get in. Rebecca settles herself on the end of the couch as I go let the guest in. The guest is none other than Sadie, a close friend of mine. She normally helps me out with my research and she is a trained mechanic. She left the organization but is sworn to secrecy. She is the one who saved Rebecca’s life in the end. The reason she is on my side is that she too believes in the humanity of the puppets.
Path away from home
Burns and flees, adventure please
On its own, new start.
Master’s friend walks in. Name: Sadie. Threat: none. Sadie rebuilt me when I was damaged. I had to escape. Ex-master was cruel. He told me to fight or die. I didn’t want to do either. I am not supposed to have wants. But I want. I wanted a kind master. Sarah is kind.
Sadie sits beside me. Location approximately twenty five point two centimeters away from me on the couch. My spot worn more from every use. Gradually it forms to my shape easier. More comfortable now. “Did you learn anything new at the tournament?” Sadie makes noise.
Record conversation. “The cyborg, Celia, her expressions were so real. She grinned and grimaced. Every time something happened she had facial cues. There is no way that was programmed into a chip.”
“Interesting.” Sadie makes a strange face. She wants to say something. Reason: her lips quivered and her bottom lip is slightly pulled back. She is biting it. She is staying quiet again. She does this a lot.
Sarah is not reacting. She speaks. “One more thing is really disturbing. The body parts, the human ones, on Celia, they look like they are from a child.” Sarah makes a disgusted expression. Repulsion. Sadie’s eyes are half a millimetre wider than average. She is trying to hide surprise. What is she surprised about? I feel something. I feel curious.
“Sadie.” The voice exits my sound system. “You seem different today. Did something happen?” expand lenses to get a clearer view of Sadie’s face. Pixel capacity temporarily doubled. Eyes one millimetre wider than average, noticeable enough for master Sarah to see.
Sarah stands. Moved toward Sadie. Ambulation speed: two kilometers per hour. Three kilometers per hour shorter than her average. Sarah is concerned. Sadie moved her left foot backwards. All of the motions of an uncomfortable human. Similar to how a lying human acts. “Sadie, it’s ok you can tell me. I know you have had it difficult since you left the mechanics.”
“Sarah.” Liquid wells out of Sadie’s tear ducts. “I-I have to go! I can’t put you in danger. My presence in this room is putting you both in danger! Do you know why I am sworn to secrecy? It’s because-because Romatae Agusta, h-he- No I can’t tell you! I’ll be lucky enough to survive tonight as it already is!” Sadie runs, twenty kilometers per hour, out of the apartment. Sarah makes eye contact with me. Her expression: terrified.
Truth contained behind
Thread crossed lips, pierced through its skin
Blood drips down, no words.
Damnit! I wanted to tell the truth. Sarah deserves to know and so does that android, Rebecca. But no. No. Because there is someone on my tail now. And if I tell them someone will get sent after them too. I run as fast as I possibly can. I have to get home, to safety. There was a figure stalking me earlier today. She probably lost track of me for a bit but if she finds me now then I’m dead.
Finally I make it. I open my door and burst inside, plopping down on the floor after the door is locked. I made my home into a fortress after leaving the mechanics. Every door and every wall is steel. There are no windows. I don’t want to die. “Hey.” There is a voice. No it can’t be real. “I said ‘hey’ now answer me, bitch!” there is someone in my fortress! I jump to my feet, backing into a wall. It’s dark and I can’t see anyone.
“W-who is there? Who are you? TELL ME!” no no no no this can’t be my time to die. “I’m not a mechanic anymore SO LEAVE ME ALONE!” I can feel myself sobbing. Before I can speak again a hand grabs my neck and pulls me away from the wall.
It is still so hard to see but there is a shape in front of me, a woman, taller than me. She seems to be wearing skin tight clothes. Leather? Maybe. It doesn’t matter at this point. “You have a really annoying voice, runt.” I try to speak but she grips my throat harder. “I did not give you permission to speak yet. Wait until I finish.” She tosses me on the floor and goes to turn on a light. “When I kill someone I love to examine their face as I do it. Androids are sort of boring. They have no vivid expressions like I imagine you will.” She steps over to me again.
She grabs my chin and stares into my eyes. A smirk touches her lips. My killer is a tall Asian with short, silky hair. “Let me ask you a couple questions first.” Her tone is a bit calmer than before, she sighs. “I guess you already know who sent me. Now what I personally want to know is this: Why did you leave the mechanics? You were one of the best under Agusta.”
“The w-work” I coughed, my voice hoarse from being choked. “It was wrong. W-we took innocent people-” the assassin laughed and interrupted me.
She grabbed the collar of my shirt and pulled me up as she stood. “So is that why you are helping that girl? What’s her name again? Sarah?”
“DON’T TALK ABOUT HER!” after yelling I keel over hacking and coddling my throat.
“Oh now calm down.” The lady in black grinned. “I haven’t been assigned to her yet.”
…yet.
Slices like it should
Through every life-form there is
No hesitation.
Agusta had a conversation with me earlier about this girl. Sadie was more involved in the project than she would let anyone know. She was Agusta’s right hand assistant. Sadie helped on the first project: Project Celia. When she left the mechanics she took all that knowledge with her. Normally an operation would be done to erase her memory but she managed to escape. Sadie faked that she had the operation done. Agusta believed her too, that is until he was talking to his medical assistants about it and they mentioned that she never came in.
Sadie knows all the secrets that lay behind the laboratory doors. “Just how much have you told to Sarah Blueheart about the experiments?” the ex-mechanic tries to wriggle out of my grip. I tighten my hand on her collar and push her against the same wall she back into when she first saw me. “It is my job to make sure the findings are protected. Blueheart is clearly against Agusta.” Again she tries to speak but fails.
I am already drawing this out too long. But her face is so fun, everything I do draws a visible reaction. It’s flabbergasting that a girl like this could trick the facility! In fact it was her not turning the lights on that allowed me to sneak inside the house behind her. “Not like it matters. Soon I will get assigned to kill that Blueheart girl if she gets in the way.” I grab my dagger from my belt and press it into Sadie’s neck. I use my other hand to hold her by her mass of black, curly hair. The girl’s eyes cringe together, the bags under them emphasised. Her eyes and skin are so pale, they look even more-so due to her dark hair. She bites her lip, holding back any whimpers. Such an entertaining girl.
“I actually don’t want to do this.” I pout. “Really I like you, your face, whenever I cause you pain. You delight me with those child-like expressions.” Sigh. “But you jumped to the wrong side, and I can’t afford to play with you any longer.” I dig the knife farther into her skin and move it away for a second, then slice it across, a waterfall of blood spills from the oversized slit. “Nothing more will come out of your mouth again.” The corpse falls to the ground, red pooling around her. It will be a while before the body is found.
Walking into her kitchen I look for a cloth and wet it then use it to clean the blade and spatter off my clothes. Mission complete. Agusta can calm down now. The only other possible threat is that Blueheart girl. She surely wouldn’t prove to be much of an opposition. However that android of hers could be trouble.
They want to close, shut
Held in place, forced to stay, see
Eyelids stapled wide.
It is after hours but I hardly care. Daddy might get angry if he finds me, though last I saw him he had a new girl. He said the police brought her to him. I don’t know why the police bring lawbreakers to the mechanics. Jail would be better. This might as well be a death penalty. I’m not too far from my room anyway, that is, if I hear footsteps.
There is one place I always love to go. I’m not allowed outside unless I am supervised but we do have a balcony that I sneak on every night. “Hello?” I turn to see where the voice came from. A girl walks up to me, no older than eight years by the looks of it. “I haven’t seen you here before.” She seems slightly surprised to see someone new or new to her at least. This girl isn’t new to me. It’s Celia. Dad normally keeps her locked in one area of the building. He told me that seclusion would keep her more emotionally cold and adept in battle. I think those were his exact words. “Who are you?” I sigh. Of course the one time I wander into her part of the building she wants to talk.
“My name is Charlie. Dad, err, Romatae Agusta adopted me three years ago, when I was nine.” She tilts her head to the side and brushes her hand through her hair in confusion. “So, I always wanted to ask you, do you prefer being called Crimson or Celia?” the spectators of cyborgs and androids normally nick-name them. She laughs in response to me.
This is strange. She seems so friendly, even though I have seen what she can do in an arena, she is still so human. “I prefer to be called Celia. Crimson is mostly a name-play on my hair colour. It’s pretty shallow of a nick-name.” she is smarter than I thought she would be. I didn’t think she would realize that the nick-name referred to her bright red hair since she is known for having a blood-lust. I guess I just figured she would be more focused on her fighting skills.
She walks up to me, almost too close. Her eyes gaze up at mine. Her artificial eyes, if I look closely enough I can see binary code streaming across the pupils. Bright red zeroes and ones in what seemed to me, a random order. “My brother. Jake. I know he is here. I need to see him. Jake.” Her speech seems more broken than before. Dad tried to remove the memories of her brother from her head, so when she talks about him or thinks about him her speech pattern becomes more broken. I don’t want to say yes. Why though? Am I on Dad’s side? Am I on any side? She isn’t a murder or a warrior. Celia is just a little girl who wants her brother.
“Follow me.”
It’s too damp to move
Walked on by passer-byers
White flower, dying.
Hazy. White, pure white, coated over with black fuzz. My vision is off. Everything is blurry and I can make nothing out. Where am I? Wasn’t I with Rena? Yes. We were walking home from school. So how did I get here? I was carrying my phone on school grounds. That is against the rules. Yes I remember now. A Police officer found me and told me he had to “take me for a ride”. I had no choice but to get in. Rena looked panicked. “R-Rena! I’m ok! Rena?” I yell and try to sit. No. I’m not ok.
As my vision returns I can see the wires stabbed into me, all over my body. I can’t feel anything covering my skin so I am probably naked. Naked and attached to wires? What is this? “Hey! A-anyone?” this isn’t right. This is a dream. This can’t be real.
“Stop struggling.” A man speaks to me as he walks into the room. I move my head to see him. A short, stout, dark skinned man. “You were sent to me by the Police. I am a mechanic.” He smiles. It isn’t a kind smile. No. It’s much more sadistic than that. “The more you move the harder it will be to make the right cuts.” The man holds what looks like a scalpel. He presses his hand down on my stomach and uses it to keep me steady. My limbs are tied, as if my movements weren’t restricted enough before he laid a hand on my midsection. The blade cuts into me, so light I can hardly feel it at first. That doesn’t last long. He sticks his other hand inside the cut he made. “Your mind is already on a chip. Now to empty out this useless organic matter.” He raises his hand and holds my intestines. They are then tossed in a bucket beside his legs.
After enough time passes he replaces my organs with technology. I feel…I don’t feel anything. Re-Rena. Who is that? Why does that name echo through my machinery? Be gone, I don’t remember you. Master looks down at me. Expression: satisfied. Sound: laughter. Ambulation: six kilometers per hour, faster than average. Master travels to me. He places a hand on my shoulder, three centimeters from my neck. “You will always obey me.”
“Yes, master.”
“From now on Romatae Agusta is who you belong to. You do my bidding, you fight when I tell you to fight.”
“Yes, master.” He grins. Master is happy with me. He takes joy in my obedience. Must be obedient for master. Must make master happy. “What can I do for you, master?”
“I need you to spy on someone. I have an assassin after her but said assassin is a tad unreliable. You are much more trustworthy. I need you to track down Sarah Blueheart and find out what she knows. If she knows too much you must kill her. No. kill her anyway. Just to be safe.”
“Yes, master.”
Jake searches through the drawer of knives for the specific blade Agusta had requested. If Jake wasn’t a cyborg he would have cuts all over his hand, if he still had a hand that is. “Here.” Charlie walks up beside Jake and sticks his own hand into the drawer. In a matter of seconds Charlie has the correct knife. “This is what Dad wanted, right?” Jake is shocked that a human, someone with such soft flesh, could be unharmed after making contact with all those knives. “Before you came here I was the lab assistant.” Charlie looks at the ground after he speaks.
“W-what that?” Jake smiles “I get toys for Daddy. Daddy want toys.” The cyborg is unable to process what is really going on. His maturity is forever that of a six year old. Charlie was there when the experiments on Jake were done.
Charlie sighs “Here, I’ll take you back to Dad.” Jake giggles at being led by a ‘big kid’ and lovingly grabs Charlie’s hand. Charlie tries to pull away but Jake has tremendous strength. He nuzzles against Charlie and giggles. Eventually Charlie just stops caring and keeps walking to where he knows Agusta will be.
My cracked reflection
Revealed to me while I stare
Held together, broken.
There was a sound. It was scary. Daddy isn’t near. I need to find someone, what if something is after me? A monster? Noise again. What is that? “H-hello?” no answer. Someone answer!
“Jake!” Who is that? A girl. Red hair girl. “Jake it’s me! Celia! Your sister! Jake I-I missed you!” she runs to me. Her arms wrap around me.
Who is she? Sister? “S-stranger.” She look up, I avoid her eyes. “I don’t know you.” She lets go and backs away. “I never see you before.”
Her face is hidden, she looks at ground. “You have no memories of before this then.” Before? Before Daddy? What was before? “We used to be human. Sure our life at home wasn’t good but it was better than this. I miss it. I miss the abuse. At least the abuse wasn’t torture and we weren’t separated. I was able to be there for you, to protect you. I slipped up once and this is what happened.” Protect me?
“Crying is bad.” I tug her clothes. “Stop. Daddy doesn’t like crying.” Daddy is mean when someone cries. Girl wipes eyes.
She goes on knees, face close to mine. My sister? “I want to save you, Jake. I want to get you out of here.” Save me? Why would she want that? “I know you are confused and don’t understand what is going on. But please never leave my side. I won’t leave yours. I love you, Jake. My little brother.” Hand held out. Sister! My sister! My hand out, my hand in her hand.
Tall and strong, hold us
We rely on your power
Roots and will, held up.
It’s been weeks since I’ve seen Allison. Normally we walk to work together every day. There is no way she would cancel on me and for this long? She would have told me what happened. Allison was missing but nobody seemed to acknowledge it. I cross my legs on the park bench and lean back, looking at the clouds. Sarah has been busy with her own interests lately, well that and she didn’t really know Allison, but point is I haven’t seen much of her either. I have one other friend who normally meets me here. Sadie. Every day she sits at this bench with me and we chat about life. I mentioned Allison to her and she clammed up. I need to talk to Sadie.
Sighing I stand and pull out my cell phone. Sadie texted me her address at one point, so I could go there and have coffee with her. At this point I’m concerned. It isn’t like her to ignore me. The location isn’t far from here, walking distance. It takes me thirty minutes but I make it. It isn’t what I expected. The entire house is made of metal and it has no windows. Why would Sadie need to live in a place like this? I knock on the door but nobody answers. “I tried knocking earlier. She won’t answer.” Sarah is leaning against the garage door. “I’m debating just walking in since I know the code. I don’t want to make her angry but I’m worried.”
“I say we just go in. I don’t care if we piss her off. She could be hurt.” Sarah is hesitant but nods. She steps ahead of me and punches in a code on the pad that replaces a doorknob. The door slowly opens after a minute and we step inside. There are no lights on and it stinks. “T-that smell! Something is rotting!” I can hear Sarah gag as I reach around for a light. While searching I step in something that feels strange. I can’t explain it. It is sort of crispy and dry but the more I step the worse the smell gets. Thank goodness I’m wearing work boots. Finally here is the switch! I flick it on and before I can see anything Sarah screams.
“SADIIIEEEEEE!” what the- “NO NO NO NO SADIE NO NO NO!” Sarah backs away and falls over, sobbing. I’m standing in a puddle of dry blood. Sadie’s blood. Maggots are swarming her body and the now crispy fluids around it. W-what happened!?
I’m crying too? Yes, the tears stream to the floor. “W-we need to call the police.” Sarah pulls out her cell phone and dials the number. I hear her talk to the dispatcher, trying to get an officer to come to the location. After a couple minutes she hangs up.
“T-there should be someone here soon. He will help us. It’ll be ok. Ok. Ok.” Sarah rocks herself back and forth, trying not to look at what was once her friend.
It flails and tries
Desperate to hold its own
Bird with one bad wing.
I get the call. Another murder. Murder is common enough here, however some of the details of this sound stranger than normal. “Officer Masuru” the speaker in my car buzzes. “Do you need back-up?”
“No. I got this covered. I’ll call if I need you.” I make it to the house, the house described as a fortress. Two young adults run out to greet me, looking horrified. “Show me where the body is.” They nod at the same time and lead me to it. The body is a short girl, about the same age as them. Her neck was slashed. The two obvious first questions are why and how. Why would someone attack her like this? And how would someone get into a house like this? To begin my search I look through the girl’s personal items. Her full name was Sadie Talia Gailtim. There is one file that strikes my interest. It is a mechanic certificate. She was part of the mechanics. I show the document to the others and the one named Sarah nods.
“She was a mechanic but she left them.” This is strange. The mechanics never let anyone carry secrets out of their lab. She must have escaped to even have the memory of being a mechanic. That explains why she was hunted anyway. I explain this to the ones who called me. Sarah and Karl. Karl stays quiet but Sarah bursts out. “She was terrified last time I saw her, I think she knew she was being followed.”
“How close were you to her?” Sarah looks confused. “Don’t panic.” The last thing I need her doing is freaking out again. “But the mechanics are very strict with their secrets. If they even suspect she told you anything you are on their hit-list.” She is about to speak but to the surprise of both of us two women. No. androids. Crash through the wall.
Sarah jumps out of the way. “Rebecca!” the taller android perks her head up in response.
“Master, run.” Her eyes narrow to her opponent again.
Her opponent is a smaller female android. “Must kill Sarah. Blueheart knows too much. Must die.” Rebecca grabs the smaller one by the neck and throws her to the ground. Furious that anyone would threaten who I am assuming to be her master. Rebecca is about to tear the other’s head from its body when a rather large dagger stabs through her left thigh. Rebecca stopped moving. She tries to mutter her master’s name one last time, though in the end falls to the ground, binary streaming through her pupils for a moment and then they go blank.
If I stay here I won’t have a chance to find the address on Sadie’s certificate. One thing the police never had before was this. Karl makes eye contact with me and smiles. He stands and makes a scene while I leave the house. “BACK-UP! GO TO UNDERGROUND STATION, CENTRAL C! THE LABORATORY IS THERE YOU HAVE TO— ” I don’t get a chance to hear their response. I look down and see a sharp point through my chest.
“Leah. You can finish this one. I’m going back to play with Sarah some more.” The smaller android appears in front of me, lifeless eyes, her hand moves lightning fast towards me and—
And so Romatae Agusta was found out for his illegal experiments. The police force arrested the mechanics. It is noted that Agusta ordered his cyborg, Celia, to assist him, however she turned on him and helped the police. Reportedly she never stopped holding her little brother’s hand. Police also took into custody the boy Agusta had adopted. He would be sent to a good home now. The selfless officer that went into a dangerous place to get the location of the laboratory will be remembered. Masuru Lerox. Sadly on that same day two more were killed along with the officer. A young man and women who had called him to the scene were disposed of by the same assassin who killed Masuru. The negative news is that Romatae Agusta escaped. His mechanics were arrested and lab destroyed but the man managed to get away from the police. Also the assassin and android who killed officer Masuru Lerox, Sarah Blueheart, the android known as Rebecca, and Karl Thompson remains unknown.
Tear it, put it back
Mash it in place, mess it up
Cut in half, again.
“Leah!” I call. This should be where she is. The police should have just dropped her off at home since her offense was so small. I am out after hours but I don’t care at this point. I want my friend back. It’s been too long since I’ve seen her. I call her name again and again but there is never an answer.
I feel as if I should give up. She probably didn’t want to talk to me or something. Maybe I messed up, maybe she is ignoring me. “Rena.” That voice!
“Leah!” I turn around and hug her. “Leah I missed you! Where have you been?” I back away and look into her eyes. They look lifeless. It is Leah but not the same Leah. “A-are you ok?”
She smiled “I have a friend I would like you to meet, Rena!” From nearby a short, stout, dark skinned man walked up to us. “This is Romatae Agusta! You might have heard about him in the news.”
“W-what? No not him!” Romatae Agusta!? The man who would take humans and turn them into fighting robots? Now that I think about it Leah does seem different. He didn’t, no, he couldn’t. it can’t be. Not Leah! “L-Leah are you?”
“Yes.” She seemed proud “And you will be too.” Romatae Agusta grinned. “Master Agusta needs to rebuild his laboratory.”
