The droplets ceased falling from the sky, now I stand here soaked. Allison is across from me, her hand grasped on the handle of the gate entrance to the Dark Elf factuality for support. As much as I would like to think I don’t know why she is seeing me off the answer is all too obvious. However she cannot stop me. I received notice that the Vampires are going after Rena tonight, therefore I must go save the hybrid.
“Look” Allison takes a breath as I pause my speech. “Allison. I know it’s dangerous, but I have to go save her.”
“But why?” she raises her voice. “It isn’t your job to take care of her!” tears form in her eyes, fury escalating as she speaks.
I sigh. “I can’t tell you that. But I have to.” The words have a difficult time coming from my mouth as I try not to upset her more.
For a moment a small smile sets on her face, not a happy one but one that she wears to try and deal with what she cannot change. “I can see the determination in you and I know there isn’t anything I can say or do to change your mind. But” she breathes heavy. “before you go, promise me this.”
“What is it?”
“Don’t die.” The corners of my lips curl upward after she says that.
“Don’t worry,” I say. “I promise I’ll be back alive. Thank you, Allison.” I leave, not looking back to see the despair in her expression. Rena, I’m coming to save you. Hold on and please be okay.
