Annabell and Leo went on in silence for a while. Leo couldn’t help but notice how different Anna was from other humans he had seen; she wasn’t very scary for one. The thought of a race that destroyed itself and others in masses was frightening, but Anna seemed harmless. Leo just couldn’t bring himself to believe that she was human. That in mind, he remembered in his history class, he had learned of Xino Angelis. Xino too was an exception to the rule of humans being insane and blood-thirsty sub-elves.
Leo pondered on the thought a while, staring off into the distance. Would Anna really be a second Xino Angelis?
“Leo?” Anna pulled him out of his thoughts, looking at him concerned, “Are you ok?” she asked.
“Yeah, I’m fine” he replied, looking at her again. Thinking about it, she looked a bit like Xino too. He was recorded to have blue eyes and golden blonde hair… Xino was said to be one of the most fair humans in both appearance and in personality. “The next thing we need is your uniform, I already have mine from last year, but, you’re new”
“Alright then” she looked at Leo, her expression seeming mystified. He hadn’t thought of it before, but, this place seemed incredible to Anna. He tried to think of what it would be like to live in a world with limited knowledge of magic, and to thin it to be nothing but myths. It didn’t work, that was like imagining a world without the sun.
“What’s on your mind, Leo?” Ebony meowed, rubbing against Leo’s leg.
“Nothing, Ebony” he replied, distantly. He was still off in his own world of Leo.
“We’re at the store” Ebony noted, scratching Leo’s foot. (Needless to say he yelped in pain)
“Why did you do that!?” he cried, ignoring the comment of the store.
“You were spacing” Ebony meowed again.
“Are you alright, Leo?” Anna asked, looking at him with concerned blue eyes.
“U-um…yeah, I’m fine. Let’s get you a uniform, Annabell”
“Anna” she said.
“Hm?” he replied
“Just call me Anna, Leo,” Anna repeated, smiling, “we’re friends now, aren’t we?” Anna was strange, and he couldn’t deny that.
“Ok then”
The friends went to get a uniform for Annabell (which Leo thought didn’t suit her at all.) Anna was dressed in a blue dress and a black hoody before, now; she wore a simple black and white uniform. The uniform was a white dress shirt, a black vest, and black slacks or a skirt. Anna of course, was wearing a knee-length skirt. The only ounce of color on her outfit now was the blue high-heals that matched her dress. Even with blue high-heals, the outfit was rather drab.
“All you need now is a tie!” Ebony meowed cheerfully.
“All she needs is more color…” Leo said under his breath, nobody really cared if the uniform was modified anyway, so, surely it wouldn’t hurt to add something. Leo had his family crest pinned on his collar for example. Maybe a ribbon or something would work on Annabell?
“More color?” Anna asked, looking at Leo.
“Black and white doesn’t seem to suit you very well,” he explained, “You seem more…bright.”
“Bright? Should I take it as a compliment?” she chimed playfully.
“If you want? Either way, we should find something less… plain” Leo responded, shyly looking at the ground.
“Do you have any ideas then, Leo?” Ebony meowed.
“A ribbon maybe…” he mused to himself, looking at Annabell, “a blue ribbon…”
“I think that would be adorable!” Ebony cheered, Anna just stared blankly at the two of them. Leo figured she must think it’s odd to be thinking of a ribbon and her uniform. She also didn’t know that blue was the color commonly associated with Xino. It was a tranquil color, and often stood as a mark of peace. It was also the same color as Xino Angelis’s eyes. Maybe she really was to be the hero that unites their two worlds. Leo felt that the ribbon would remind him that she could be just that.
